The movie – to be shot in Miami, Florida – is reportedly in its early stages, with a production team including actor Zach Galifianakis already in the sunshine state scouting for locations.
The first film, which was set in Las Vegas and chronicled a nightmare stag weekend, was one of 2009’s biggest hits.
Its stars – Cooper, Ed Helms, Galifianakis and Justin Bartha – have reportedly been anxious to ensure the sequel matches the success of the original movie, which made an astonishing $462m worldwide last year and was produced on a budget of only $35m.
Cooper, who is currently dating actress Renée Zellweger, said: “The four of us got together and toyed around with the idea of where it was going to be and what happens, and [director] Todd Phillips came up with this hilarious opening that I hope stays.”
