Royalties for song we didn’t right – Sheryl Crow, others

Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am and Sheryl Crow has joined the small but growing list of singers who are demanding that radio stations pay them royalties even if they have not written the songs themselves but have sung those songs.
Current broadcasting regulations have it that AM & FM radio stations will have to pay the song writers royal fee and not performers. That in turn means that performing artist who record songs on yesteryears songs do not get paid anything when their acts are played on radio.
What if tomorrow disc jockeys all over the world remix and create their own version of nursery rhymes and then claim that such a version did not exist before so when radio stations play their hip numbers they are entitled to royalties.
This is a creative way of copy right infringement and that’s the dream today that you just copy someone else’s work and get paid millions. Well then I want to get paid for watching their videos in the first place.

Sheryl Crow took a day off on Monday morning to take her 15-month old son Wyatt Steven for a walk around New York City. He looks so cute! It seems just like yesterday when he was still wrapped up in a baby sling and we could only see the top of his then bald head. The 46-year old Grammy winning singer is in town for her Detours tour. She performed later that evening at the Jones Beach Music Theatre in Wantagh, New York. James Blunt and Toots & the Maytals served as her opening acts. On Tuesday, Sheryl went off to Holmdel, New Jersey for a performance at the PNC Bank Arts Center.
