Desperate Housewives stars united in joint statement following Nicollette Sheridan lawsuit

Desperate Housewives stars Eva Longoria Parker, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman have issued a joint statement in support of show creator Marc Cherry in a lawsuit filed by Nicollette Sheridan.

“It would be irresponsible of us to let the public believe that being a part of this show from its inception has been anything but a blessing,” the statement says. “We have no first-hand knowledge of what Nicollette may or may not have experienced, but we would never characterise our set as a hostile environment.

“It is, in fact, the opposite,” the statement continues. “The friendships and support that Marc Cherry, the cast, the crew and the producers have shared for the past six years have made this a wonderful job that we are grateful for every day.”

Hatcher separately voiced her concern in the statement after she was singled out in a lawsuit that alleges Cherry hit Sheridan in the face and that the latter’s character was killed off after she complained about him.

According to the papers, Sheridan alleges that when Hatcher complained to ABC executives about Cherry, he told Sheridan, “I hope Teri Hatcher gets hit by a car and dies.”

Regis Philbin making good recovery from hip surgery

Regis Philbin is making a good recovery from hip replacement surgery.

The veteran talk show host will return to Live! With Regis & Kelly alongside Kelly Ripa in January.

Access Hollywood reported an e-mail from the ABC show said: “Word from the hospital is that everything went perfectly this morning during Regis’s hip replacement surgery, and his doctor said that Regis couldn’t be in better shape.”

The 78-year-old Philbin expects to return to the show in early January after surgery this week – with usual recovery time from the surgery between four to six weeks, the e-mail noted.

Philbin had bypass surgery in 2007. No other details were available.

Paula Abdul is Wanted

American Idol may not want Paula Abdul anymore but Dancing with the Stars does. ABC entertainment president Stephen McPherson told reporters that he would love it if the former AI judge joined the dance show. He said last weekend “We would love to have her on Dancing whether it’s as a contestant, or a participant, judge, etc.” Paula has also been offered a spot as a guest judge on the So You Think You Can Dance panel but DWTS has something a little more permanent in mind. Although ABC’s dance show already has 3 professionals at the judges’ table already, Stephen claims that “all possibilities are open” for Paula.
