Arrested Development star Portia De Rossi is to lift the lid on her private life in an emotional tell-all book.

The Australian-born actress, real name Amanda Lee Rogers, said in a recent newspaper interview that the book will reveal her harrowing battle with anorexia and her struggles with her sexuality, including falling in love with Hollywood comic Ellen DeGeneres.

She said: “It will deal with all the secrets that nearly killed me.

“Nobody can really get inside the anorexic’s mind like the anorexic.

“I abused my body. I had bulimia…”

She added: “But, obviously, I can’t do that without talking about my sexuality. And, although you can’t really talk about one without the other, it still felt like two stories.

“The only thing that linked the two of them was me.”

The former Ally McBeal star, 37, also told Aussie newspaper The Advocate about the happiness she has found with new American Idol judge DeGeneres, who she married in 2008.

She said: “I tell her [DeGeneres] all my insecurities, all of my worries, and within a few minutes I feel better.

“She’s just so helpful to me. I think I help her too. I keep her focused on what’s important and what the big picture is. I think that’s what a good couple do for each other.”
