Katherine Heigl may be about to depart the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
Heigl’s character Dr Izzie Stevens has been subject to some roller-coaster plot turns, developing terminal cancer one episode, on her feet in surgery saving lives the next. But it’s all in a day for the team at the fictional Seattle Grace.
Heigl, 31, took a three-month maternity leave when she adopted 15-month-old Naleigh and has taken a five-episode break to film Life As We Know It. CNN reports Heigl is due to return on March 1 and that two weeks later, the actress will accept the ShoWest award for Female Star of the Year. The website asks whether the award is a sign Heigl is ready to throw in the scrubs towel on Grey’s to focus on her film career. A source said: “It wouldn’t be a shock.”
Heigl, oft-times outspoken, last July said on the David Letterman show: “Our first day back [on Grey's] was Wednesday and it was – I’m going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them – a 17-hour day, which I think is cruel and mean.”
Jon Voight has been reunited with Angelina Jolie and his family.
He revealed: “I’ve been waiting so long to hug my grandchildren.”
The actor had been estranged from daughter Angelina Jolie and her six children since 2001.
Jolie reportedly cut him out of her life when she went public with accusations that Voight cheated on her beloved late mother Marcheline Bertrand – Voight in return questioned her mental stability just before she was set to adopt her first child, Maddox.
But now just days after photos surfaced of Voight spending time in Venice, Italy, with Jolie, her partner Brad Pitt and their six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne – the acting legend has spoken of his joy.
Voight revealed: “It was just wonderful to spend time with Angelina and Brad and the children.
“I’ve been waiting so long to hug my grandchildren and it was amazing – they are the most beautiful, loving kids you could imagine and I’m not just saying that because I’m their grandfather. They really are something special. Angelina and Brad are so happy together and they are the most amazing, loving parents I’ve ever seen.
“It truly moved me to see how Angie is as a mom, I am so proud of her – she has so much love to give and to share with the children and with Brad.”
Gordon Ramsay’s wife weighs him once a week to ensure he doesn’t get fat.
The foul-mouthed chef has revealed how Dancing on Ice star Tana forces him to step on the scales so she can inspect his gut.
“My wife, she’s quite a control freak. She weighs me once a week,” he said.
“Chefs have a reputation for being quite fat and she says, ‘Trust me, we’ve been married now for 12 years and we have four amazing children. I want to get out of bed every morning and stand up straight and see your meat and two veg.’”
“What happens if you don’t meet her standards?” a shocked Kimmel asked.
“I’m f***ed,” the Kitchen Nightmares star laughed.
Tana, however, should be happy with her husband’s exercise regime, as he prepares to compete in yet another marathon.
Ramsay, who runs 10 miles every day, is running the LA marathon in three weeks’ time.
“I just finished my 10th London marathon last year, which is great – 10 in a row,” he bragged.
“I did five double marathons – comrades – in South Africa, which is 60 miles. You run straight through, up and down. One year, it’s uphill – the next, it’s down.
“Next month is the LA marathon which I’m going to do, which is exciting. It’s going to be a tough one because it’s quite hot. We don’t have that kind of weather in mid-March in the UK.”

He also spoke of his upcoming appearance with real-life belle Vanessa Paradis in My American Lover. “It’s in preparation,” he said of the flick.
“It’s called My American Lover. Vanessa plays the French feminist Simone de Beauvoir and I play her lover Nelson Algren, who is real macho,” he said.

Characteristically cool, Simon Cowell has tossed around a few potential replacements for himself on American Idol for Extra! without giving anything away.
Cowell told Extra! he could see the likes of Jamie Foxx, Howard Stern and Mario Lopez stepping into his shoes on Idol. But he would not say which of them he favoured.
“Tell Mario [Lopez] to call me. I like Mario – he’s good,” said Cowell, adding: “The names I’ve heard … Jamie Foxx, Tommy Mottola. Howard [Stern], I don’t think so … I would think Jamie.”
Cowell, who will soon leave Idol to take his smash success X-Factor on the road to the US, did go as far as to suggest the controversial Stern’s approach might not be quite right. He said: “I really like Howard. I think he’s winding everybody up at the moment. You know, I think if you’re really serious about the job, you don’t do it publicly.”
Cowell, 50, who has just announced his engagement to Mezghan Hussainy, did say he would like Paula Abdul to join him on his X-Factor American adventure. “It’s over a year away and a lot can happen in a year. I’ve always made it clear with Paula [Abdul] I would love to work with her, so we’ll see what works out. It’s not just my decision.”
Alice In Wonderland star Johnny Depp has revealed his children love Edward Scissorhands the most out of his films.
The 46-year-old actor is dad to Lily Rose, 10, and Jack, seven, with long-term partner Vanessa Paradis.
He said: “It’s funny because they’ve seen it but they have a difficult time watching it because it’s their dad and they make that connection, but it’s Edward Scissorhands. That’s by far my kids’ favourite.
“They just connect with the character and also they see something, their dad feeling that isolation, feeling that loneliness. He’s a tragic character and so I think it’s hard for them.
“They bawl when they see that movie.”
Depp worked with Tim Burton on the flick and was nominated for a Golden Globe but lost out to Gerard Depardieu.
Tiger Woods’s apology for his marital transgressions was broadcast around the world, with numerous polls taken over the weekend to test viewers’ reactions.
One US poll found 60 per cent of viewers found Woods’s televised apology sincere. Viewers were split, though, on whether his comments had influenced their perception of him. One on-line poll for an Australian newspaper on Sunday night showed about 1000 responses each to questions about the sincerity of the mea culpa but zero per cent of readers bothered to click either yes or no to the question of whether Woods’s wife, Elin Nordegren, should stay with him.
Fifty-two per cent of 1090 people polled by HCD Research said their perception of the pro golfer, who has been in sex rehab, had not changed, with 31 per cent saying their perception had changed in a positive way and 17 per cent saying their perception had changed in a negative way.
“Our automated response curves revealed that male and female viewers’ sincerity levels were fairly consistent,” said Glenn Kessler, president and chief executive officer of HCD Research.
He added: “The one exception occurred when Mr Woods made comments denying the presence of any domestic violence, during which men perceived him to be less sincere than women in regard to those statements.”
UPI also reports 64 per cent of viewers said they found Woods’s apology was sufficient, while 36 per cent did not.

“There will be people who say he deserves everything he gets,” Brosnan, 56, said.
“I think forgiveness, compassion, some dignity – he hasn’t murdered anyone.
“What he did was terribly wrong in a time that was terribly wrong in many ways. There’s forgiveness on her side.

The 39-year-old SNL star admitted that her friends often help her pick out the right style of clothes.
She told Vogue magazine: “I am a fan of the deep V. These are the things I learned from my friends who are cutter/drapers: I have an hourglass figure; I do have a waist, but I have full hips and I have decent shoulders.
“So that V is good for me. Not good for me? Spaghetti straps. It looks like when you tie up a roast before you put it in the oven.”
Fey also admitted she has previously received invites to fashion shows but has felt like she wouldn’t belong there.
She said: “I get invited to fashion shows, but I feel like I’d get busted if I went to them. People would be like, ‘Who you tryin’ to be’?”
