Jay Leno yanked from primetime

The primetime Jay Leno Show has been cancelled, says NBC.

The rejigged show that was formerly a late-night staple apparently suffered a viewer dip since debuting in September. The show has been yanked from its 10pm slot.

Network chairman Jeff Gaspin said:”Starting February 12, The Jay Leno Show will no longer air at 10pm. While it was performing at acceptable levels for the network, it did not meet our affiliates’ needs, and we realised we had to make a change. My goal right now is to keep Jay, Conan [O'Brien] and Jimmy [Fallon] as part of our late-night lineup.”

Gaspin added:”I think you have to take chances. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t.”

Guy Ritchie launches own record label

British film director Guy Ritchie has set up his own record label – Punchbowl Recordings – according to UK reports.

The label, which the 41-year-old named after his London pub, The Punchbowl, will be a subsidiary of Universal Music, which has stars such as Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse on its roster.

Ritchie has signed up The Punchbowl Band, an Irish folk group that regularly plays at his pub, as his first signing to the label.

The band has previously entertained celebrities including Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law and Sting.

Talking about his foray into music, Ritchie said: ?It’s exciting to venture into the music industry.
