Che Guevara star Benicio Del Toro has revealed he loved getting his teeth into his new Wolfman role, despite the fact he spent three hours taking his make-up off each day.

Del Toro, who brought Che Guevara to life on screen, stars in the big-budget reworking of the 1941 classic horror flick.

The Wolfman is released in February and the Latin star, 43, admits it wasn’t always the easiest part to play, especially the elaborate costume and make-up needed to transform him from nobleman Lawrence Talbot into a werewolf.

He said: “I needed a team to help me if I wanted to say something because I had to take off my teeth. They would take off my hands so I could scratch myself or eat.”

It took three hours to apply the terrifying make-up and almost as long to take it off.

When the other leading names in the film, including Sir Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt, had gone home, he would literally be having his face scraped off.

But sometimes he couldn’t be bothered and that would cause him more problems, particularly if he was returning to his London hotel by moonlight.

He said: “I’d be like, ‘Okay, I’ll clean this tomorrow, I’m exhausted.’ So I would walk in and look like I’d just been beaten to pieces at 5am.

“The hotel guys already knew but the first time I’m sure I freaked them out.”
