Twilight star Taylor Lautner reveals his gym secrets

Twilight actor Taylor Lautner has told how he went from 10 stone to 12 stone 2 pounds in a year. Lautner plays Jacob Black in the popular vampire series.

His character’s body changes significantly between the first movie Twilight, and the sequel, New Moon. Eclipse, the third part in the series, will open in 2010.

“My character continues to grow,” Lautner says. “So I’d like to pack on at least a few more lean pounds.”

The actor’s trainer, Jordan Yuam, says that one of the things his client had to do was cut down on cardio exercise and increase his weight training.

“I was exercising so hard that I began to lose weight,” Lautner says.

But Yuam steered him in another direction, saying: “If you’re trying to gain lean mass, focus on weightlifting with the proper technique and the right plan.”

And the personal trainer assures even weightlifting virgins that they have just as much chance to bulk up like the Hollywood star, rumoured to be dating singer Taylor Swift.

“Inexperience works to your advantage,” Yuam says. “The less muscle you have, the easier it is to gain muscle mass more quickly.”
