The queens of U.S. TV came head-to-head as Ellen DeGeneres appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

The talkshow hosts put any rivalry aside as they celebrated a joint cover for the upcoming issue of Oprah’s ‘O’ magazine.

Ellen’s wife Portia de Rossi also appeared on the show and gushed about falling in love.

Portia told the audience she fell for Ellen the first time she saw her but was still closeted and afraid of public reaction.

“It took me three years to actually tell her how I felt about her, because I was on Ally McBeal at that time and I was not living as an openly gay person,” Portia said.

“I was closeted and very, very afraid that if I talked about being gay, it would be the end of my career. So I wasn’t about to date the most famous lesbian in the world.”

After several years getting to know each other as friends, Portia told Oprah that she plucked up the courage to tell Ellen how she felt.

“Over those three years, we saw each other at parties or various things, but the one time that was the most significant was at a photoshoot,” Portia said.

“I just walked over to say hello to her and I couldn’t believe it, but she turned around and it was like an arrow was shot through my heart. I was weak at the knees and I was overwhelmed with how I felt. But then it took me about 10 months to get the courage up to do something about it.”

The two women tied the knot in a wedding ceremony at their Beverly Hills home in 2008.

Gilles Marini talks about Sex and the City sequel

Actor Gilles Marini has said there just wasn’t a place for his character Dante in the Sex and the City movie sequel.

Marini, 33, played Samantha’s love interest Dante in the movie, but he has not been cast to return in the movie’s sequel, which is currently shooting.

Asked about not being recast, he said: “Well it’s very simple, the character of Dante was very important in the first movie. And he made Samantha realise she was like him five years before.”

He added: “The script took a different turn and they don’t want Dante in New York, I mean he would freeze to death in New York taking a shower outside.”

Marini added: “The script took a different approach and there’s no place for Dante in that script, but let me tell you from what I’ve heard from producers and directors… it looks like it’s gonna be a brilliant movie.”

Asked if he’s upset about not returning, he said: “No, not at all. How could I? Sex and the City put me on the map, internationally speaking.”

Marini then said that he would have been upset if his character was in the second movie but another actor was picked for the part.
