Eva Longoria Parker of Desperate Housewives will enrol for a masters degree in Chicano studies and political science to explore her Mexican roots.
Longoria grew up in Texas, but her family is originally from Monterrey in north-eastern Mexico.
The 34-year-old said in an interview that she wants to “learn more about the history of the country we come from”.
She is also working on improving her Spanish. Last month she travelled to Mexico City for her first Spanish-speaking role in a movie. Titled Days of Grace, the film is about a kidnapping.
