Christian Bale sheds pounds to play drug addicted boxer in new movie role

Method actor Christian Bale has dropped some serious weight for his latest movie role as a drug addicted boxer.
The Brit star – who famously dropped 63 lbs for his role in The Machinist and then quickly bulked up again for Batman Begins – looked thin and gaunt on the set of The Fighter.
The 35 year-old has been spotted on the set in Boston getting ready to play drug addicted boxer Dicky Eklund, the half-brother of boxer ‘Irish’ Mickey Ward in The Fighter.
"I’ve had to lose a great deal of weight because he was a welterweight," he told MTV last month.
Amy Adams was recently in talks to join Bale and the ensemble cast on The Fighter.
Adams was in talks to play a character named Charlene, a gritty bartender and former college high jump star from Massachusetts who dates Mickey.
Mark Wahlberg plays Mickey, while Melissa Leo joins the stellar cast as mother of the brothers.
