Romcom star calls Russell Crowe fat
Nia Vardalos has called Russell Crowe “fat” – and defended her own dramatic weight loss.
Nia, in Sydney, Australia, to promote her new romantic comedy My Life in Ruins, says she shed 18kg because of a blood-sugar problem.
The My Big Fat Greek Wedding star, 46, said: “Yeah, Russell Crowe’s fat.
“Let’s just talk about it for once instead of saying, ‘Oh, that man is so good-looking as he ages’ while disparaging women for – God forbid – not having Botox.
“I don’t see a problem with the word fat, quite frankly,” she added.
“I think we give it a power it shouldn’t really have as a negative word.”
Talking about her weight loss, she revealed: “I had a blood-sugar problem, and my doctor said I had to do something about it.
“I was quite furious because you don’t tell a Greek girl what to do.
“But in the end, I just had to lose the weight for my health.”
