Oprah Winfrey will splash out and take her staff on a Mediterranean cruise that will set the billionaire back more than half a million pounds, it was reported.
Winfrey has over 100 employees at her Chicago-based television production company. The all-expenses trip will run for 10 days and follows on from a four-day staff trip to Hawaii she funded that cost an estimated £3,500 per person.
Winfrey’s personal worth is an estimated £1.5 billion and her annual income over £200 million. She will reportedly join her staff on the cruise that will take in the exotic sights of Turkey, Greece, Italy and Malta.
Last week, the superstar of talk shows visited the $40 million Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Johannesburg, which was launched with her own funds. The school comes out of a pledge to African freedom fighter Nelson Mandela to give girls from deprived backgrounds a start in education and life.
Oprah said: "When you think about these little girls three years ago carrying buckets of water on their heads and (living) with no running water. Now they are talking about going to Harvard and winning a Nobel Peace Prize."
