Action man Jason Statham says he misses his mates

Tough guy Jason Statham says he misses his mates from London when he’s in Hollywood.

The Brit actor confessed that, despite his onscreen success and access to glitzy parties, what he really loves is going to the pub.

He said: “When I go back to London I love getting in the pub, seeing all my mates.

“I miss my friends, you know? Friends that I have history with; they don’t come regular enough.”

The 36-year-old actor, who stars in new action movie Crank 2, makes the confession in the latest issue of LA-based magazine Signature.

He said of his latest film: “It’s very unique to say the least. It’s dark, it’s abusive, it’s politically incorrect…

“These boys [directors Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine] don’t pull any punches.

“Expect Crank 1, times 10… everything is ramped up.”

Despite his success in the movie business in films such as The Bank Job, Statham says he’s still waiting for his breakout role.

He says he is “waiting for my big day. To show what I can really do.”

Brad Pitt and Inglorious Basterds off to Cannes

The Awards Season may not yet be over for Brad Pitt. After a stellar nomination but nary an award for the bearded basterd–err the bearded star, Brad Pitt, director Quentin Tarantino and their new movie “The Inglorious Basterds” are off to Cannes. The war movie will be part of the Cannes Film Festival in May 13-24 not only as one of the movies which will premiere during the event but as part of the competition.

The Cannes Film festival people are however not talking and refused to reveal the full lineup of the Festival until April 23. There are lots of possibilities for “The Inglorious Basterds” considering that Quentin Tarantino is a favorite, having brought home the Palme d’Or for his movie “Pulp Fiction” in 1994. Quentin Tarantino also served as festival jury president in 1996. The Cannes Film Festival may be the most glamorous of all the film festivals in the world but don’t expect to see the equally glamorous Angelina Jolie with her partner Brad Pitt during the festival since she is busy filming “Salt” in New York. But who knows?
