Critics of ‘Pink Panther 2’ are snobby: Steve Martin

Hollywood actor Steve Martin isn’t reading too much into the recent poor reviews the latest Pink Panther movie has received. Instead he calls the critics of the movie ‘snobby’ despite the opening week bringing a mere $12 million from the box office.
He says, “I have received bad reviews my whole life. I received bad reviews when I started with my stand-up act. The Jerk, one of my most enduring comedy films, was universally panned in America. And comedies always have to overcome critical snobbery. It’s just the way it is. And so you go, oh, well, okay, why are these movies that you’ve criticized so archly still around 10 years later, 15 years later, 20 years later? It’s because comedy is not a critics’ medium. It just isn’t.”
Just because some blue eyed Indian beauty is starring in the movie does not mean it will ring the box office cash registers. More over just because one Pink Panther movie made an impact earlier it will not ensure in anyways that the news ones shall be able to repeat the success.
These “Pink Panther” remakes are SOO abysmal that cult status for them is as remote as Uranus is to Earth. Don’t confuse “snobbery” with good taste.
