Victoria and David Beckham the musical
July 4, 2008 on 9:43 pm | In Beckhams, Music, Spice Girls, Sport | No CommentsA musical based on the lives of Victoria and David Beckham is in production. The satirical play, entitled ‘MacBecks’, is set to open in January.
Long Road Productions, who are involved in the musical and have previously worked with ‘Riverdance’, say the production draws inspiration from Shakespeare.
The company’s director, Ronan Smith, said: “We’re very excited by the script - it’s a wild comedy romp that borrows from Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’, ‘King Lear’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, as well as Cyrano de Bergerac. It will be a musical based on the world’s best known soccer player.”
According to reports, Victoria will be based on Lady Macbeth and be portrayed as a ruthless and ambitious woman who David sacrifices his career for.
The musical will also feature actors portraying former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and the woman David allegedly had an affair with, Rebecca Loos.
The script is being penned by Gary Cooke and Malachy McKenna. The show is due to open at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre next January.
Lindsay Lohan Turns 22
July 4, 2008 on 4:18 pm | In Actress, Life Style, Lindsay Lohan, Party | No Comments
Wednesday marked Lindsay Lohan’s 22nd birthday, and she celebrated in style. Her party was at Teddy’s Lounge at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The theme was prom, umm, since I guess we don’t get enough of that in high school.
Linds arrived just after 10 pm in a pink strapless micromini dress, and her gal pal Samantha Ronson took the theme seriously, arriving in a tuxedo top, black pants, bow tie, and top hat. Umm, yeah.
Sam stayed by Lindsay’s side, most of the time keeping her hand on Lindsay’s back…keeping potential suitors away, no doubt. She actually managed to steal a kiss from Linds as they hung out by the DJ booth.
The party wound down, surprisingly, around 1:15. Lindsay actually sipped Red Bull all night - no alcohol. She and Sam cuddled in the dark as the party ended.
Something about that whole thing makes me want to gag.
